Global Career Guide (EN)From Law

Employment Lawyer

Employment lawyers are solicitors or barristers who specialise in the law governing the relationship between employers and workers. They advise on contracts, dismissals, redundancies, discrimination, harassment, pay, TUPE business transfers and industrial relations, and they represent clients in Employment Tribunals. Some act mainly for employers (respondent side), others for employees, trade unions or claimants.

Career Progression Path

Is this the only route?

This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
