Global Career Guide (EN)From Law

Solicitor

Solicitors are qualified legal professionals who advise clients, draft and negotiate documents, and represent people and organisations in legal matters. They are the larger of the two branches of the profession in England and Wales (the other being barristers) and work everywhere from high-street firms and the largest global practices to in-house legal teams, government and charities.

Career Progression Path

Is this the only route?

This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
