NDT operators carry out routine non-destructive testing inspections using methods such as magnetic particle, dye penetrant, or ultrasonic testing in manufacturing or maintenance environments. Apprentices learn to set up equipment, carry out testing to a procedure, and report results clearly. The role is an entry point into the NDT profession and can lead to technician and engineer grades.
